Apple release Snow Leopard on Friday
This Friday (August 28th) Apple will be releasing Snow Leopard.
Snow Leopard is the next release of Apple's Mac OS X operating.
Rather than adding lots of bells and whistles, this time Apple's focus has been improving the performance and reliability of the operating system.
Here are some highlights
- Completely rewritten Finder (faster)
- Cisco VPN support
- Faster Time Machine backups
- More reliable iChat
- New QuickTime player
- Better text selection in Preview
- Exchange support in Mail and iCal
- Omnipresent inspector in iCal
- Automatic time zone setting
- Multi-touch gestures in older Macs
- Faster and more reliable installer
- 64-bit computing, Grand Central Dispatch, OpenCL
Apple is also releasing Snow Leopard Server, which among many other features, will finally support shared contacts!
