Ben Herbert, (ex) Genius
Some of you will have already met Ben as he started at Dr Logic in mid June.
Ben was one of the original Apple Geniuses at the Regent Street store. After 3 years he then worked for two years at an interior design firm as head of IT.
Most recently he worked with a major publishing company upgrading 100s of G4s and G5s to Mac Pros, migrating user data and upgrading their software.
We're really excited to have him on board and are sure that you'll enjoy working with him.
Firefox 3.5 is out
If you're using Firefox, either because you prefer it to Apple's Safari, or because certain sites, like some banking sites don't work in it, 3.5 has just been released.
New features include
- Improved privacy controls
- Better performance all round
- The ability to share your current location
- Support for new web technologies including downloadable fonts, HTML5 local storage and offline application storage.
You can either update to 3.5 in Firefox itself by going to the Help menu and choosing Check for Updates... or by downloading it straight from the web at http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/
Reliable storage options
Are you running out of storage space, have you experienced one too many consumer level hard drives fail on you, or are you looking for storage with more performance?
This month we're featuring a couple of storage devices, both of which feature RAID technology protecting you against hard drive failure.

As it employs RAID 5, if one of the four drives fails, the storage system will continue to function without loss of data. And as there is a 2-year onsite, no-nonsense warranty faulty parts will be replaced free-of-charge. It also uses energy-saving GreenPower hard drives and is silent in operation.

Drobo RAID storage (budget and flexibility)
The Drobo uses BeyondRAID technology (similar to the Hive) to protect data against a hard disk crash (as long as you have more than a single disk in the Drobo). The difference being that you can add drives as needed, and they can be of different sizes.
The Drobo holds up to four hard drives, supports up to 16TB, has FireWire 800 and USB 2.0 connectors.
The Drobo allows you to purchase as much or as little storage as you like up front. Since you can expand at any time, Drobo is a great solution if you're on a budget

When your internet goes down...
